1. Tell me how you'd check that brake are working before starting a journey.
Brakes should not feel spongy or slack. Brakes should be tested as you set off. Vehicle should not pull to one side.
2. Tell me where you'd find the information for the recommended tyre pressures for this car and how tyre pressures should be checked.
Manual's car or on the inside of fuel tank flap, use a reliable pressure gauge, check and adjust pressures when tyres are cold, don’t forget spare tyre, remember to refit valve caps.
3. Tell me how you make sure your head restraint is correctly adjusted so it provides the best correction in the event of a crash.
The head restraint should be adjusted so the rigid part of the head restraint is at least as high as the eyes or top of the ears, and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable.
4.Tell me how you'd check the tyres to ensure that they have sufficient thread depth and that their general condition is safe to use on the road.
No cuts and bulges, at least 1.6mm of tread depth across the central three-quarters of the breadth of the tyre, and around the entire outer circumference of the tyre.

Turn on ignition, operate the switch, then walk round vehicle.

When the engine is off; gently apply pressure to the steering wheel; it should feel heavy. However, once you start the engine, the steering wheel should feel lighter and easier to turn. If the steering wheel remains heavy even with the engine running, this might indicate a problem with the power-assisted steering system.
10. Tell me how you'd switch on the rear fog lights and explain when you'd use them.
Turn on ignition, turn on dipped headlights, operate switch. Orange warning light appears on the dashboard. You would only use them when visibility is significantly reduced, like in heavy fog, to below 100 meters.

Turn on ignition, turn on dipped headlights, operate switch by pushing the indicator stalk. Blue warning light appears on the dashboard.
12. Open the bonnet and tell me how you'd check that the engine has sufficient oil.
Point to the dipstick/oil level indicator, pull it out and wipe off all the oil with a cloth or rag. When it’s clean, put the dipstick back into its tube, pushing it all the way back in. Let it sit and then remove it again. Check of oil level against the minimum and maximum markers. For accurate reading you would have the car parked on a level surface. If the engine oil is too low, top it up via the filler cap.
13. Open the bonnet and tell me how you'd check that the engine has sufficient engine coolant.
Point to the coolant tank and check the level against the minimum and maximum markers or if there is only one marker, then up to that marker. If the coolant it is too low, unscrew the tank lid and top it up but you would always make sure the engine has cooled down first.
14. Open the bonnet and tell me how you'd check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid.
